Socks for children

There's no place like the great outdoors. Your kids will agree. And true nature lovers aren't put off by bad or cold weather. In addition to the right outdoor clothing and good children's shoes, the right socks for children are also important.

Whether it's summer or winter, hiking or skiing – at Transa, you'll find the right children's socks for every activity. But what should children's socks be able to do? The most important features of good children's socks are:

  • Socks for children should prevent sweating and, ideally, be breathable.
  • In winter, socks for children should keep their sensitive feet warm.
  • In summer, children's socks should prevent sweating, which means the material should have good moisture transport properties.
  • Whether trekking socks, hiking socks, or ski socks – good socks for children are also slightly more robust in sensitive areas to prevent blisters or other injuries, so that the little ones can continue to enjoy hiking, skiing, or playing outside.
  • For a relaxed evening in the cabin, children's socks with silicone or rubber stoppers on the sole are ideal. This saves you having to buy slippers for your kids and allows them to run around indoors without slipping.

It's all about the material

As in all other outdoor areas, the material is also important when it comes to socks for children and adults. While cotton is very robust and has long been used in the manufacture of all kinds of sports socks, synthetic fibers are clearly ahead in terms of functionality.

Cotton socks for children

Because stability is the most important factor in children's socks, many children's socks are traditionally made from robust cotton. However, if cotton socks get wet, they dry very slowly – which is unfortunately a significant disadvantage when it comes to outdoor activities.

Children's socks made of synthetic fibers

Synthetic fiber socks are different. They usually dry fairly quickly and wick away moisture well. This is a clear advantage over cotton socks. The only downside is that children's socks made of synthetic material are not odor-neutral. Longer trekking tours with only one pair of synthetic fiber socks are therefore less than ideal.

Children's socks made of merino wool

When it comes to odor control, merino wool comes into play. Not only is it naturally breathable, moisture-regulating, and warming, merino wool is also odor-resistant, making it ideal for use in outdoor socks.

Children's socks made from blended fabrics

Ideally, children's socks are made from blended fabrics, combining the best of each material in one sock. Children's socks made from synthetic fibers and merino wool are particularly effective in this regard. They offer your children everything they need for the perfect day outdoors: sturdy, dimensionally stable, odor-neutral, and quick-drying socks.

Socks for children – for hiking or skiing

At Transa, you will find numerous children's socks for a wide range of uses. Starting with hiking and trekking socks, which are usually cut slightly higher and have extra padding in both the heel and toe areas. For those really cold days in the snow, you'll find lots of ski socks that have similar features to trekking socks, but are also reinforced in the shin area and, of course, made from a warm material – ideal for skiing, winter hiking, or your first snowshoe tours with your kids. And, of course, the very normal everyday socks for children in the Transa range.

Socks for babies

Transa even caters for the littlest outdoor enthusiasts. To ensure that your little ones don't get wet or cold feet while sitting in their child carrier backpack on their first trekking tour, we offer lined baby shoes made of water-repellent material in our shops. And in the evening at the hut, the little ones slip into hand-knitted baby shoes with warm fleece lining before drifting off to dreamland after a long day outdoors.
